Hanley
The pot banks along the canal
are silent. Their broken backs
are brick patched with concrete.
Remnants of windows
grey with dust, almost obscure
stacks of unglazed plates
on cluttered sills,
and pale heaps of abandoned pots
site like ghosts in the yard.
