Three Things

This is the first thing:
You have called me by name,
and I’m Yours.
Nothing can change
who I am in You.

Then there’s the next thing:
You are the Source,
I am a branch.
If faith and kindness, grace
and patience don’t flow
then snuggle in closer. Be still.

But the first thing is also the last –
You have called me by name,
and I’m Yours.
Nothing can change
who I am in You.
But rooted in You, reaching deeply,
I’ll grow fruit that lasts.
