The gift of Christmas says to us:
God Himself now shows the way
and we are not forgotten.

This Baby, born in a trampled hour
came as one Who knows our pain
to show us what it means to live,
and speak His freedom to our chains.

But within our scurried lives
we dare to hold Him prisoner!
We bind Him with our ifs and buts,
give sparse and prudent measure.

He calls us each to freely share:
to give and not to count the cost;
restore your brother, love your foe;
visit captives, seek the lost.

Jesus is God’s gift – in us!
In us, He tells the world again:
“You are not forgotten”.
